Kybella

Kybella™ is a prescription medication that is injected into the fat under the chin to improve the appearance of submental fullness or double chin.

Kybella™ (deoxycholic acid) is the first FDA-approved injectable drug that contours and improves the appearance of double chin.

What is  Kybella™ and how does it work?

Kybella™ (doxycholic acid) is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat below the chin it causes permanent destruction of fat cells.

What is the likelihood that my double chin will improve following a series of Kybella™ injections?

In the clinical trials 68.2% of patients reported improvement in excess fat below the chin following Kybella™ injections after a series of injections.

How many treatments will I require to improve my double chin?

Kybella™ is administered by injection into the fat under that chin through a series of treatments spaced one month apart. While most patients require 2- 4 treatment sessions spaced one month apart, you may require fewer or more treatment sessions for optimal improvement. Some patients may not improve despite multiple treatment sessions.

Are there any contraindications to Kybella?

You should not have Kybella™ injections if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant,  are breastfeeding, have an infection in the treatment area or have difficulty swallowing, Before receiving Kybella™ injections you should inform your healthcare provider if you are have had or are planning to have cosmetic surgery on your face, neck or chin or have bleeding problems. You should also inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking including over the counter herbal supplements and vitamins.
